How Hospikit counts the city tax

Rate, guest-nights, total due — and why a stay across two months is split between them.

The city tax report: rate, guest-nights and total due
The city tax report: rate, guest-nights and total due

The taxe de séjour is charged per person and per night. That sounds simple until the end of the month, when someone has to add up every stay by hand and explain the figure to the accountant. Hospikit does that addition from the book of stays your team already keeps.

The rate is yours

Each hotel sets its own city tax rate, in dirhams, in its settings. Hospikit never assumes one: the rate on the report is the rate you entered.

Guest-nights, not room-nights

The basis is the number of people times the number of nights. A couple staying three nights is six guest-nights; a stay with no party recorded counts as one person, never zero. The report shows that figure beside the rate, so the total due is a multiplication anyone can check.

A stay across two months

A guest who arrives on 28 August and leaves on 3 September spends four nights in August and two in September. Hospikit counts each night in the month it falls in, so the August report is not inflated by nights that belong to September — and the two reports add up to the stay.

Explained on the page

The city tax report sits beside the period report and says how it was counted. When the accountant asks where a number comes from, the answer is already on the screen.
